Well I just got home from woring a 7 hr shift so I thought I would start the thread.
12 more days and I get to see Carl. I havent seen him since June!!!!!
His sister was taken to the hospital again with pneumonia and is in ICU. I swear that women has 55 lives!!!! I think she is getting sick just so Carl will stay there permently. She isnt responsive and I think the Parkinsons is attacking her lungs.
Otherwise life goes on and I have a date with my pillow.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

I'm just sitting here tonigh****ching the White Sox beat up on the Mariners ... fourth in a row at home, sweeping the Mariners. Hope they can keep it up. It sure is exciting to watch. Wish they could have played like this all year.

I got to do the front page of the Opelousas Daily World today ... I tried doing this a few weeks ago when I first got here, but wound up having so many problems that Bonnie had to take the page away from me and fini**** up. Then she was so ticked off she didn't speak to me for days.

So tonight I got another ... this time, most of the copy was in early enough (except for one story) and I had plenty of time to work on the stories and the page, so I had no problems getting the page done on time (front and jump pages). I had a few minor issues that Bonnie had to help me with, things I didn't know (she might have told me about them, but it has been three weeks and I didn't remember them). The page is highly formatted (they want the same look every day ... kind of boring), so there's not a lot of thought put into it.

Then, after that deadline was passed, I had two inside pages to do for the Lafayette paper. So I was busy, but that was good. I like to be busy. So much different than Grand Rapids, where you'd get one page to do all night. I like this much better.

We also had a meeting with the Lafayette/Opelousas editor; he's new, and wanted to meet the editors. He seems nice and willing to let us take more chances. I like that.

Well, I'm all sore and achy tonight; didn't get much time to get my leg up at all. My back hurts, too. Between me and the guy next to me, we have a litany of aches and pains. I guess that's par for the course for two 50-somethings.

good morning! what a wonderful thing to see your smile, carla !
i'm sure carl will be happy to get home to you -i understand your comment about his sister; tho i do send prayers...

eileen- i am loving watching you adjust to your new surroundings and job! i know it is not all sunshine and roses but you seem so much happier and upbeat -even when there is a negative! i love it!!

well- i had three days off in a row and it was great except that the pay check will suffer! so this morning; i wonder if i'll remember my passwords at work??ha! 30 gazillion diff passwords for everything! and it's my 9 hour day...tomorrow i work at the other branch near here so i get a few hours....

michael is being nicey nice- doesn't realize his actions in past have spoken much louder than the words he utters now....he's researching a one way ticket to hawaii- geez! a small fortune---texas would be cheaper but his daughter doesn't want him/can't take him.....

well- need to get some protein in and get self showered and gorgeous to go face the crowds!(haha!!! not here!!!)

oh!!! i figured out the weed thing--seems i had been going about it all wrong! in ohio; we had clay and one needed to pull the weeds while they were still teeny so they didn't take a good hold-back breaking and tedious!!!!!-here; in sand--the key is to let the weeds get about 3-4 ft tall , reach down at waist high and yank!! roots and all! easy peasy!! not so back breaking! one problem is that the entire lettuce crop was lost--and i had forgotten we had planted green (bell) peppers!!!! harvested a kohlrabi and some zucchini --yummo!!!! and my back aches are stress not weed related!!!!!

well- hugs and prayers..............

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good Morning:

I am again working from home.  Water heater is still broken.  Mother in law is still in the hospital.  So I'm going to work from home, not sure I can take another freezing shower, so my hair is not going to be looking so good today, as long as I'm around the neighborhood I can throw a cap on, but can't do that for the office.  It also allows me to be available if phone calls or coordination of mom's discharge needs someone from the family on the phone working with the hospital & rehab facility.

Yesterday we had planned to go pick up a water heater so Gene could install it between visiting his mom & my dr. appointments.  Instead Gene ended up on the phone with the social workers from the hospital working on the case management discharge end of getting his mom into rehab all afternoon yesterday.

Today Gene has his clients, so in between clients he will be going to Home Depot or Lowes to pick up the water heater and then installing it sometime tomorrow in between writing his sermon for Sunday.

I will probably take the time to either get outside to walk around the neighborhood or spend an hour or so on my treadmill, depends on how hot it is out there when I open the door.

Hope everyone has a great day.....

Good Morning and T.G.I.F

This is only my second day posting and hope to get to know each of you a little better. Sounds as tho everyone has their crosses to bear and I pray that each situation gets better.

I will be starting my 2 week pre-op diet, my stomach is not looking forward to it, but just wait until the 17th, my stomach won't know what hit it. I can't wait!! I never thought I would say this but "I WANT TO BE A LOSER"!!!

Happy Weekend to All.

We all do have our crosses to bear, and it is so much easier when you come to this board and share.  Hang around, this is a pretty good bunch of gals.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hi Donna,
I had to do the 2 week pre-op liquid diet after the first day it wasn't so bad.  The only tough part I had was having to work and do the liquid at work for those 2 weeks.  It goes by so quickly!

Good morning', yall.

It sounds like things are looking promising for most of ya'll. That is a good thing.  Adjusting to new things isn't easy.

Yesterday we had one he** of a T-storm!  Got way dark, we had a power 'blip' and we got tons of rain. That makes my backyard a wading pool. This lot doesn't have very good drainage.

Today I am going to finish altering the dress I will be wearing to our grandson's wedding next month. It is a dress my daughter bought on sale in Portland. But it was only available in a size too big for me.  We kinda cinched it in when I wore it to Mom's internment.  But for the wedding I'll be in it for hours and in pictures, so cinching it up won't do. Since I only wear a dress every 5 or 6 years, I'll probably have to alter it again for the next wearing, when this extra 25 pounds will be gone.

Water aerobics at 10. I do really enjoy that class. I don't think it does anything for my weight, but it helps the old joints. I wi**** was earlier. I am a morning person. I want to get up and get my stuff done without having to stop in the middle and go to the gym. But, it is what it is. Not everyone wants to be in the pool at 6 AM.

Everyone have a fantabulous day!!

Morning all...welcome Donna...

Wed. I went to the drs. for my BP check...all is well..but I have had this awful headache for weeks now...she told me my allergies must be bothering me..sinuses looked a little swollen.
Thursday I was back and she gave me the antibiotic shot..my head hurt so bad I was nauseaus and couldn't see..last night she called with blood work..I was dehydrated (???) and white blood count was high , so I have an infection somewhere.

Today I feel much better....at least the head ache is gone.
I;m meeting Annette and another friend Bonnie today at 3:30 at our gym for some time in the pool...its great....I love our water aerobics..just wish I lived closer to the gym.  I have to drive 1/2 hour to get there and thats if I don't hit Ithaca traffic, which has been awful lately.

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday..
